Golden Sparrow began in 2020 with a simple question: what happens to the child who cannot get to school?
Why We Built a School Without Walls
In 2020, we asked ourselves a question we couldn’t shake: what happens to the child who can’t get to school?
The answers were not easy ones. A child in a remote location may live hours from a good school. A child facing a serious illness may lose months, even years, of learning. A family may want the very best for their child and find the fees simply out of reach and many more......
Behind every one of these situations was a child with the same hopes as any other: to learn, to be good at something, to be seen. None of these children lacked ability. They lacked access, and that is a problem worth solving.
Our founders refused to accept that these children should simply go without. They held on to a simple belief: education does not have to live inside a building. With the right teachers, a thoughtful structure and a reliable connection, a school can reach the child, instead of the child having to reach the school.
That belief became Golden Sparrow.

Why "Golden Sparrow"?
In Hindi, sone ki chidiya means "the golden sparrow". For centuries, India was called by that name for its wealth of knowledge, learning and culture. We chose it as a promise that every child, wherever they live, deserves that same richness of learning.
How we see it
We have real respect for physical schools. They offer friendships, play and shared experiences that matter deeply, and we do not see ourselves as a replacement for them. We are an option for children who cannot attend one, or for whom a fixed timetable does not work.
For these children the choice is not between a physical school and an online one. It is between an online school and no school at all. We exist for that gap.

A note from our founders
When we started Golden Sparrow, we were thinking of the children we kept meeting who wanted to learn but had no school within reach. We do not have every answer, and we are still growing. But we believe every child deserves a place to learn, and we will keep working to make that true for as many children as we can.
